The Knife’s Olof Dreijer continues his new adventure as a solo producer. Out March 6th, ‘Coral’ EP follows October’s ‘Rosa Rugosa’ EP on Hessle Audio, and a return to DJing with shows at C2C London, Unsound Krakow, Dekmantel Festival, Panorama Bar, as well as the next Sónar Barcelona and Dekmantel.
‘Coral’ EP marks a new sonic chapter for Olof Dreijer. Melodies and compositions of a distinct nature play with the listener throughout the EP, creating an ambient progression where electronic and acoustic sounds delicately dance together, forming friendships and blending seamlessly, reminiscent of white magic. The EP draws inspiration from the lively steel-drum experiments featured in last year’s ‘Souvenir’ EP with Mt. Sims, which quickly garnered acclaim from both the New York Times and Pitchfork.
Olof has been pushing the borders of electronic music for two decades, keeping things fun and colourful. Over the past decade Olof has been DJing throughout Europe at clubs and festivals such as Panorama Bar, Dalston Superstore, Dekmantel Festival, Unsound, and Club2Club London. At the turn of 2010, Olof started working under the secret pseudonym, Oni Ayhun, to release music that explored more experimental directions and to play with gender; performing at Berlin’s Panorama Bar, Tokyo’s Liquid Rooms, London’s Corsica Studios, and Italy’s Club2Club festival. 2023 saw Olof co-found Bamba Club, a local Stockholm club night with friends to play the music they like to dance to themselves in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
Nowadays, Olof is mostly active with making his music, producing and remixing other artists, and teaching music. Olof co-produced several tracks on Fever Ray’s critically acclaimed 2023 album ‘Radical Romantics’, produced Tunisian multi-instrumentalist and composer Houeida Hedfi’s debut album ‘Fleuves De L’âme’, as well as music by Planningtorock and Zhala. Olof Dreijer has also remixed artists such as Fever Ray, Nine Inch Nails, Röyksopp & Robyn, and Emmanuel Jal.
